Do you need to have your Electrical Appliances Tested?
Everybody wants to know that when they are using electrical equipment that it is safe to use. This is obvious, but the Electricity at Work Regulations 1989 (EAWR) places a legal responsibility on employers and employees, as duty holders, to ensure that electrical systems used at work under their control are safe.
Other legislation relevant to electrical maintenance, as stated in the Code of Practice for In-service Inspection and Testing of Electrical Equipment is:
- Health and Safety at Work etc. Act 1974
- Management of Health and Safety at Work Regulations 1999
- Provision and Use of Work Equipment Regulations 1998
- Workplace (Health, Safety and Welfare) Regulations 1992
- Free plug or fuse replacement, if required.
- Full list of appliances tested either on paper or in the sofware of your choice.
